Participant Release, Assumption of Risk, and Waiver of Liability Agreement
Event Location: Roseboro Stage Area (Across from Rosie's Pizza), Downtown Roseboro, NC
Event Date: Saturday, October 31, 2026
Event Organizers: Rosie’s Pizza, Event Sponsors, Town of Roseboro, and their respective officers, volunteers, agents, and employees (collectively, "Organizers").
Assumption of Risk & Physical Health Representation
By signing below, I voluntarily elect to participate in the 3rd Annual Spooktacular Hot Wing Eating Contest ("Contest"). I understand that eating high-spice hot wings involves inherent risks to my health and physical well-being.
Health Certification: I certify that I am in good health, physically fit, and do not suffer from any medical conditions that could be aggravated by consuming extremely spicy food, including but not limited to: severe heart conditions, high blood pressure, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal disorders, ulcers, or food allergies (e.g., pepper, capsaicin, gluten, poultry, dairy, seed oils).
Voluntary Risks Assumed: I understand and freely assume all risks associated with participation, including but not limited to: severe burning sensations, mouth/throat/stomach irritation, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, allergic reactions, choking hazards, indigestion, and unforeseen illness or physical injury.
Waiver of Liability & Hold Harmless
In consideration for being allowed to participate in the Contest, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Rosie’s Pizza, the Town of Roseboro, event organizers, venue owners, event staff, volunteers, and sponsors (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury (including death) that may be sustained by me during or following my participation in the Contest, whether caused by the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise.
Emergency Medical Authorization
In the event of a medical emergency during the event, I grant full permission to event staff, volunteers, or local emergency personnel to render immediate medical treatment, first aid, or transport me to a medical facility if deemed necessary. I agree to be solely responsible for all costs associated with medical treatment and transportation.
Contest Rules & Media Release
Code of Conduct: I agree to abide by all Contest rules, regulations, and judge instructions. Organizers reserve the right to disqualify or remove any participant display of unsafe behavior, distress, or non-compliance without notice.
Internet, Social Media, and Digital Media Consent
Media Release & Digital Broadcasting: I grant the Organizers, their representatives, and designated sponsors the unrestricted, perpetual, worldwide, and royalty-free right to capture my voice, image, likeness, name, performance, and video footage during the Contest.
Online & Internet Publication: I consent to the editing, publication, broadcasting, streaming, and distribution of these recordings on any digital or internet-based platforms—including, but not limited to, official websites, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), local digital news outlets, live streams, and online promotional materials.
Waiver of Intellectual Property Claims: I understand and agree that all footage, photos, and media captured at the event belong exclusively to the Organizers. I waive any right to inspect, approve, or receive compensation, royalties, or financial gain from any published internet content, digital marketing campaigns, or social media posts featuring my image or involvement.
Acknowledgment & Signature
I HAVE READ THIS WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, AND UNDERSTAND THAT I AM GIVING UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT. I SIGN THIS DOCUMENT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT.
